About ToRD.tv

As ToRD continues its development as the largest and one of the most exciting roller derby leagues in Canada, the demand for coverage has increased as well. ToRD TV’s mandate is to promote the sport of Roller Derby in Toronto and to celebrate the athletes who play it by providing in-depth coverage of bouts through archived boutcasts, player interviews, and statistical analysis.

ToRD TV is a skater-run initiative supported by the volunteers Layer 9 and the Derby Nerd.

The Derby Nerd The Derby Nerd

The Derby Nerd is a roller derby blogger who first discovered the sport while living in Montreal. Since coming to Toronto in 2008 he has been an avid follower of ToRD and provides statistical analysis of the league (and other Eastern Canadian roller derby leagues) through his blog (derbynerd.com). He can be reached at thederbynerd@gmail.com.

Mr. Force/Layer 9 Mr. Force

Mr. Force became a "derby widow" in 2006 when his wife G-Force!! got the derby bug. Rather than never see her, he instead took up his camera and has since spent many, many hours shooting and editing video of ToRD bouts and figuring better ways to capture this wonderful, fast-paced, chaotic sport.

Candy Crossbones Candy Crossbones

Candy Crossbones is a picker, a winner, a lover and a sinner who loves roller derby, reporting, ballin' and shot-callin'. She plays for Chicks Ahoy! and occasionally CN Power and her signature move is the "drunken monkey."

Monichrome Monichrome

Monichrome has been skating with ToRD since she co-founded the league in 2006. She is often referred as the league historian and puts this knowledge to work when replying to your questions at info@torontorollerderby.com. A leg break in 2009 forced her into a short-lived retirement, where she replaced her skates for a mic until she could return to the track for the 2010 season. When she's not doing Q and A for ToRD.tv you can find her behind the merch table, blocking for CN Power or pivoting for the Death Track Dolls.

Downright Dirty Dawson Downright Dirty Dawson

Downright Dirty Dawson fell in love with her ToRD sisters and brothers when she was Fresh Meat in 2008. She was drafted as a Death Track Doll in 2009 and is having the time of her life spreading the word about derby as ToRD TV Project Manager.
